Hello fellow members, especially all from Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

As I have mentioned in many of my posts I have been working PT as a RO here;
https://www.mcmillersportscenter.com/ and the reason for this post is to inform everyone of some great updates that are taking place.

First of all we have added a new 3D archery range,I also believe there will be a crossbow range as well, to which the website now has pictures of the archery range. Unfortunately it looks like they took down many of the old photos of the ranges.

Then coming over this winter money has already been allocated to tear down the old range houses on the 25 and 100 yard ranges and new ones being built with all concrete floors, new benches and each building is supposed to be getting outhouses. Then the clay ranges are to be consolidated and moved to where the Novice trap,and 5 Stand will be together with the addition of a new Skeet range. The talk also has it, in the 25 yard rebuild there will be mechanical target holders such as are used at indoor ranges so shooters will not have to go downrange to service targets.

Also the Lodge is expanding and hopefully becoming more of a full service gun shop with firearms sales and other merchandise. Also with plans already in the works to build a new and larger Lodge.

Also coming in the first weekend of Oct. we are planning an Open House with many activities and discounts so look for it to be posted. There are more changes in the works but so far unconfirmed so I am not going to address those other than one I am hoping takes hold is the addition of a 1000 yard rifle range.

Long drive?
Last week I had a group of three up from downtown Chicago. Another group of 2 from Rockford and another group from Aurora Il. Then there are two guys that shoot every week during the winter in our local league, one drive from near the lake front in Racine and the other comes from down at the state line near Genoa City.
Guess you can go almost anywhere and shoot pistol but not many places you are going to go and shoot to 200 or 300 yards.

Did they ever update the sporting clays shooting boxes?
They had a 2x4 horizontal cross beam at the height of 6 feet inside of box. The cross beam was right where I should have held my shotgun. I tried shooting next to the box, but was told I had to be in the box. I explained the problem, but the range master said "tough sh**" I've never been back since.
I ended up shooting at Boxhorn Gun Club. I understand Al Capone use to drive up from Chicago to shoot trap there. They have pictures of him shooting trap in front of the club house.
