My wife is drooling over a case-hardened Uberti single six. Any opinions regarding Uberti? Looks good, action is great, really good lock-up. Chambered for .45 Colt. Nice wood grips. Seems nice.

Thanks,
Will

From what I have read over at sixgunner.com they are one of the most faithful Colt SAA copies out there.
And they are of course the actual maker of the Beretta Stampede.
I think the same outfit now owns both them and Beretta.

I have a Cabella's Millenium which is made by Uberti. It has a very inexpensive finish, but seems fine mechanically.

I also have a Cabela's Millenium (Uberti manufacture) and picked up an additional .45acp cylinder in Millenium finish from Numrich Gun Parts. It shoots great in either caliber.

Thanks for the replies, guys....

I think I'm going to get her the "Stampede". Looks good and I can get a surprisingly good price on a new one.

I had a Uberti 1860 Colt Army that was flat out beautiful. Superb attention to detail, cased with all accessories and a good shootin arn, too.

I've had a nickle plated Regulator with dual 45 Colt/45ACP cylinders since 1998. It's not as well made as my SA Rugers. It has a tendency to always need the screws tightened after every range session and the mainspring had to be replaced after about three years. If I were to get that setup again I'd opt for the Ruger.

A friend had one--there were so many cutouts in the hammer for required safeties that the hammer fractured after a little dry firing. I don't know if they are still made this way. Might be worth a look and some consideration. I know that both Colt and USPF make inexpensive SAA in the USA.

Colt's inexpensive single action, the Cowboy, really sucked. It had an OK finish, but was fitted poorly and the action was rough as a cob. The trigger pull was about 8 pounds. I ditched it a few months after buying it to someone who just had to have a Colt.

I have been very happy with Uberti's guns. The are fit much better than the cheap Colt. The action and trigger is much better also. The triggers on the ones I have fired are generally better than the triggers on Colt's SAA even.

As far as Ruger Vaquero's are concerned, get one if you want one, they are well made, but they are not SAA replicas. If you want a faithful reproduction of the Model P, this needs to be last on your list.
