US made 1/2 X 20 UNF Suppressor

Does any US manufacturer make a rimfire suppressor with changeable thread pitches? I'd like a suppressor that can go from 1/2 x 28 TPI to 1/2 X 20 UNF without using an adaptor on the end of the barrel.

Seems like with most rimfire suppressors the rear mount is considered a suppressor part so you can't have multiples with different pitches.

Not that I know of. I've never seen a .22 silencer that came in anything other than 1/2x28, and I've only ever seen one that wasn't just normal direct-thread (the Gemtech G5-22 is a quick-attach .22 silencer, but they only offer 1/2x28 muzzle devices for it).

You might find something from a small silencer manufacturer, but I'm guessing your only option is to get something custom made from one of those small shops.

I have a European made suppressor that has the 1/2 x 20 thread and my problem is just the opposite. Got an adapter and it seems to work fine. I believe you are correct about the rear mount being a "suppressor part", but how then do manufacturers get away with selling different mounts for centerfire suppressors? (Real question; figured someone on here might know.)

I think with a centerfire pistol its just the booster piston that changes out. I guess thats still a suppressor part though. I had a Gemtech Trinity (which has now been upgraded) and you could buy different fixed thread mounts for it. That suppressor was really like a big rimfire suppressor. I wish I could find something like that in .22 rimfire.

Theres a few nice european guns that come already threaded in 1/2X20unf. Seems a shame to cut off the threads and re thread to 1/2X28. The really strange thing is how Americans ever went with that ridiculous 1/2X28tpi in the first place. 1/2X20unf is much more standard throughout the rest of the world and in industry also.

I'd love to find a .22 suppressor in 1/2 X20 for my Beretta model 71 ... currently I'm running a YHM Mite with an adaptor ... I wish I had a thread protector for the barrel when I don't have the suppressor on it as it looks a little goofy just leaving the adaptor on it.

A regular nut from the hardware store will fit it just fine as a thread protector. That's what I mean by 1/2x20unf being standard; it's commonly used in regular machine bolts you get at Home Depot or Lowes.

I suspect that all of us talking about 1/2-20 threads are really talking about sticking cans on the Beretta's that were imported with the fake cans by Century from Israel. Not likely enough of them here to warrant a special suppressor from an OEM.

With .22 cans so easy to make, my solution is a form 1 and two hours with a lathe and a milling machine with the result being a nice monocore can.

For using an OEM can, the adapters work fine.

Kimberkid, you can make (or have made) a thread protector that is about 1/4 the length of the adapter with protector that you show. My Beretta has a protector that's so short that nobody even notices it has one until it's removed. Took 5 minutes to make using a scrap of aluminum bar stock and a lathe, including knurling. Any high school kid with access to a lathe in metal shop can whip one out.

Agree with Willie Sutton on the Beretta thread protector. I made this one from a piece of 6061 AL rod on my mini lathe. I could have made it a little shorter but I like it as is. I have since finished it with black Alumahyde from Brownells.

Next project is higher replacement sights both front and rear. Rear is no problem. Front.. well... Beretta dovetails them in longitudinally and not laterally like everyone else so I've not found a blade yet that I can use as a point to start from. Anyone with experience chime in.

I was actually thinking of a Voere Model 2005 open bolt .22lr. I see these with factory 1/2X20 barrels and I also see some with un-threaded barrels. I actually bought one a couple days ago and already sent it off to Gemtech to have it threaded 1/2X28.

Pretty much any suppressor manufacturer will make you one of their standard suppressors with 1/2X20 threads but then that suppressor can't be used on any other firearm. Thats why I was really wanting something with replaceable threaded inserts like most centerfire rimfire cans.

Oh well. Looks like ill stick with 1/2X28,
