Hey guys, kicking around the idea of getting a 300 Mag, at first I entertained the idea of getting a .300RUM but when i started looking first there wasn't much to choose from as far as rifles and brass is $45 for 50rds for the bohemoth. So out with the Rum and in with the good old 300 Winnie Mag. I found two rifles that really interested me, one is a used SAKO 75 Stainless synthetic in very good condition and wow is it a smooth action!!! The have it listed at $799 with no scope or rings on the gun. My second choice is a limited editon run of a Remington 700 with a laminate thumbhole stock and stainless fluted barrel, detachable magazine, overall a VERY nice gun they have listed @ $869. Just wondering what your thoughts are, new is nice but the Sako is quite a gun in very close to new conditon, HELP!!!

You wont go wrong with either rifle. Just whichever feels best to you. Personally I have a Sako .300 win mag, and love it. Not as much recoil as I had expected, very smooth action, and extremely accurate. Mated with 180 gr Barnes X bullets, its an unbeatable combination. By far my favorite hunting rifle. That being said, I also have a Rem 700 in .280 Rem that is a very fine rifle too, so it gets back to which ever you like.

I have both a Rem 700 in 300 Win Mag and a Sako 75 SS in 30-06.Although the Rem does everything you could ask of a hunting rifle, the Sako goes one step beyond in smoothness and accuracy... I never claimed to be an accomplished rifleman (OK, perhaps....fine for hunting, but not gonna win any long-range bullseye matches), but the Sako shoots amazing groups - I love it!

Sako 75 are latest "Sako". They are very good rifles. Next ones Sako 85 are no more "Sako". This ones are not so god Beretta. :cuss: Never, ever I will have 85-stubid rifle.
