In this day and age of decreasing hunting privileges and decreasing hunting land(at least in the Commonwealth of Virginia), I am happy to see this.
Hunters and fishers are footing the bill for the WMAs with license fees which are increasing every year and non-hunter organizations are pushing for the DGIF to create more facilities for non-hunters on the WMAs.
I am losing my favorite hunting spot to a Department of Conservation and Recreation park which was pushed for by the rich horse people of Goochland/Powhatan counties. I have read on DCR's own website that they are trying to urge the DGIF to increase access of WMAs to non-hunters.
In the face of non-hunting activities closing access to hunting lands and in the face of non-hunting organizations urging more access to lands designated specifically for hunting, I am glad the DGIF is basically saying "you want to use the land, then you will pay for it just like the hunters"
