I just bought a Valmet .308 with a wood sporter stock and a fine selection of magazines. I believe this model was called the "Hunter". It was obviously never fired--still had the factory grease on it!
It has a milled receiver and outstanding workmanship. Nice sights too. If anyone owns one I'd like to hear how you like it and what kind of accuracy you get with it. Hopefully I'll be able to get to the range with it before too long.
This would seem to be the ultimate "sleeper" homeland defense rifle. It utilizes a serious caliber, doesn't look "evil" and has the reliability of the AK design.
