Value of a LNIB Colt .25 Auto?

I'm looking at a LNIB Colt .25 auto with box & papers priced at $495 at the local shoot 'em up emporium.

I'm not especially intrigued by the platform, but thought it might be worth picking up and hanging on to as an "I've got and old Colt with box & papers" trophy piece. I can't imagine shooting something like that regularly so regrettably my interest is driven primarily by vanity and greed.

Thoughts?

From 1908 to 1946 Colt made a hamerless .25 Vest Pocket Pistol with a grip safety.

Following World War Two they first imported from Spain, and then after 1968 made in Hartford, a small .25 automatic with an exposed hammer and no grip safety.

Which one are you looking at?

I saw one today at our local collectors auction. It was described: "COLT M-1908 AUTO; 25 ACP; 98% blue, excellent bore, excellent grips, in original Colt box, manufactured 1922, s/n 3145xx". It matched the description well and was in a "nicely cared for original box"

Sold for $695. after vigorous bidding.

The model I'm considering has the exposed hammer and no 1911 style grip safety. I'd guess it was made some time in the 70's looking at the box & packaging materials.
