I saw one of these raygun looking pistols at the past weekend's gun show. I thought they had been recalled, or are they back in business? It was being offered as new, I forget the price tag, except it was pricey.
Are they still around, or was someone selling old stock?

they were recalled, so any out there would now be a collector's item.

i really like their look and would love to own one...but i would pay a premium for it

THey were recalled (as stated above) due to a faulty safety mechanism, they would go off if dropped. The company offered people the cost of the pistol +$100 to buy them back so that makes them even harder to find.

it's claim to fame was that it was designed...at least it's exterior...by college design students. the safety is located at the front of the trigger guard

Hi from peter in South Africa
Have had a CP1 for +-15 years. Has had factory mod. I have never had a failure of any sort. Shoot many different bullet types (including soft lead and ++p). Carry cocked and locked.
Shape etc make it ideal carry pistol. Sometimes carry in ankle holster. I have been shooting for 30 years and have tried almost everything I saw on the range. While Glock and CZ impressed me, I still prefer my CP1. Accept that it is single action with a relatively heavy trigger pull. This is still better than some autos I have tried. The trade off is the compact dimensions.
Due to high crime rate here, private security companies are booming. Thay tend to arm their personell with cheap single action auto's (preferably high capacity due to baddies with AK or stolen police R5 carbines). Noticed that one firm is arming their guards with CP1. Must still be in production, or maybe old stock.

I shot one, and it was nothing but a jam-o-matic. If you can find one, you should buy it for nothing else than being a curios that will probably go up in value. as a firearm its a POS.

Are they in production with the mods? Have never seen one, but have always been intrigued by them.

bac1023, nice looking pistola, good pictures. I almost bought one of the CP1s when they came out, still think I should have, just for collector value.
