I'm also curious - what's the most ergo one, which would be similar to an ERGO brand rear grip? I want something small, light, unintrusive, ergo, grippy, and not just a stick like most of them.

I've taken a real liking to the CAA products. I have the version that also holds a flashlight.

It's large and a bit bulky but it feels good and it's uses hand tightened wing nuts so it detaches fast.

I also use the folding version, does not have a light mount.

If I'm shooting prone or kneeling, I fold the grip back horizontal and that gives me a real nice traditional forward hand position. It seems a bit smaller than many verticals but I don't think that's a problem. I like it a great deal. It is not a quick detach though.

i've come full circle on them in the past 4 years. went from none, to in to out to stubby and back to none.

i have several of them, but the only gun i have one mounted on now is a full-auto with an 11" barrel. that one is a tango down stubby.

the tango down grip is the best i have used. feels solid.

alpha and arnette, are you talking about the quad rail or a VFG?

I don't use them. Personally (and this is just me) I feel that it puts my arm too far out there and I'm muscling the gun up all the time. I just grab the front of the receiver and call it good. That way, my elbows stay close to my body and everything is nice and tucked in.

I'm with matai, get the Bobro, they come in regular length and short.
Dan Crocker, try having to lug the rifle around a few miles or having to constantly have it up and ready without a vertical grip.
I sure wish I had one years ago when we were toting M16A2s in the 82nd.

That's where my experience not liking them came from. I spent some time at Bragg too, Para. Fun post...

I hated them until someone let me have a Surefire M900 light/VFG combo.

I believe so much in weapon lights that I was willing to try the VFG and I find that I like it very much.

But I like it pretty far out in front, not all the way back.

the tango down grip is the best

+1 on that.

I was exploring the notion of adding a rubbery outside to my VFG so that it would be consistent with the Ergo Grip in back, but nobody makes anyting like that, and I can't find PlastiDip in black w/ orange peel texture.

I've got a Bobro and really like it and am planning on getting a Larue FUG eventually.

They are not designed to be the only thing you hold on to, IMHO. Grab up high with your thumb in the air and use it to pull the gun back towards your shoulder.
