Very stupid primer/powder question...

I'm in the camp that would load the 38's below max and just shoot them. I would be comfortable with a grain under. Your "little helper" did a lot of work! But you may need to "supervise" a little closer until they understand a little more about things.
If we start with the idea that *maybe* the OP is going to shoot both these loads in the same revolver... which is a 357, then there is no need to reduce loads. Max Loads on 38Spcl are around 18,000 psi while the 357 Magnum revolver is designed to withstand something around 34,000 psi. Lots of people load 38Spcl brass to 357Magnum pressures to simply avoid buying the expensive brass.

I agree, but not knowing what the op's experience was I was conserve with my suggestion.
