Great video Mike. Only one point that I believe you got wrong. The 1851 Navy gets it's name from the caliber and the fact that the Navy bought sizeable quantities; not because of the Naval Engagement cylinder scene. .36 caliber was considered a Navy caliber while .44 was considered to be an Army caliber. Additionally, the 1860 Army has the same Naval Engagement cylinder scene.

Mike your great articles and helpfull information has influenced my choice of a Uberti London model which I love and my own choice for a trail gun has just been the Piettia .36 caliber Police Model ( built on a full size Navy frame).
I really like the caliber and shoot it equally (if not more) as my Colt-style and remington-style .44's. Next I want a Brass Framed Military model.
The apparent abscense of recoil and good accuracy of the .36 define why it was so popular! You just can't put the thing away! You keep reloading and reloading!
I love your stories of "Bottom Dealing Mike"!
Mike, I really want to thank you for guiding me down the right BP path, thanks man!

Great video I really enjoyed it! I can't wait for the video about shooting the original 1851 Navy.

Pulp, Nice video. Usually I do that same twitch to get rid of a spent cap, but this one managed to fall into my palm between the palm and the pistol grip. And it, "...burned, burned, burned..."

Yup, it does burn. I've finished more than one match with blisters in the palm of my hand. My '60 has a small burnt spot in the varnish that matches where a blister was on my hand. Here's a photo of pieces of caps falling from my '51 at EOT 2010:

Glad I was shooting left handed!

Great video! I'm another lover of the Navy revolver. I've been facinated by them ever since reading about Wild Bill Hickock, who carried a pair of them for most of his career.

duelist1954,

Are you sure it is brass frame?Only backstrap and trigger guard looks brass to me,or maybe I'm wrong?
