Thought you guys might find this interesting since we always think Hawaii has such onerous firearms laws. They do, but there's still a vigorous firearms community there.

Layout of range, tools and techniques, kind of rapid-fire delivery, but with no "Ummms" and "Ahhhhhs":

Good first-timer hints on what to bring to any range.

"Referrals" are supposed to be good, but I usually just give a link for outsiders (mainly mainlanders) and let it go at that.

That's a pretty nice range. I didn't really look into firearms related activities when I went (other than the military museums), because of the firearms laws. I did see advertisements for an indoor range that rented firearms - I honestly figured this was the most common way for people to shoot in Hawaii. I'm glad to see they have a healthy population of gun owners.

From what I understand, one of the first thing Japanese tourists want to do is shoot a gun. Apparently the indoor rental ranges do well on that account.

I'm a member over at the Hawaiian site* and I sure learned a lot about the State. Right now they're concerned about the two hurricanes. ("Will the range be closed due to the hurricanes?" :) )

I was surprised to learn of the detailed expertise in guns (especially AR-XXs) the small but vigorous gun community has.

One of them had a companion case in that District 9 series of cases on CCW recently (I forgot the main case name --Peruta?). And there was a lot of discussion of Guam's recent favorable CCW law changes.

However, almost the whole governing system of Hawaii is "liberal" statist-oriented, so they've got a tough row to hoe for gun rights in general.

They have a whole sticky thread on the status of the lines of people at HPD (Honolulu PD) for gun registration. Talk about.... what's the word I'm looking for? Oh, yeah, "infringement."
