A guy at works Father is offering to trade him a rifle made by Voere. It is chambered for .243 and made in Austria. It is marked Custom Crafted for Marketing Unlimited (I assume that was the importer). He said the bolt is marked Lavistah L3. His Father apparently did some work at the home of the owner of the mechanical contractor he was employed by some years ago. The man offered money for what his Father did. When his Father told him he didn't want it. The man said then take this & gave him the rifle. His Father will be taking his old Marlin .35 caliber lever gun in trade. He asked me if I could learn anything more about the Voere & I thought I would ask here as I know there are many knowledgeable members here.

Going by my 20 year old or so Sixteenth Edition Blue Book ....

Manufacturer located in Kufstein, Austria since 1965. Back then the guns were imported by JagerSport Ltd. located in Cranston RI and that was back in '93. Importers tend to change and I have no clue as to today.

My read is they make a heck of a good rifle or they did back then. The number you have doesn't cross in my book but they made a Model 2185 that was a hunting rifle imported into the US in 243 Win.

They also apparently made a line of classic K-98 Mauser rifles with a 20" barrel, tang safety and no sights in 243 Win that were imported into the US.

Sorry what little I can offer is so old but as I mentioned 20+ years ago they were exporting some really nice and costly rifles into the US.

Looking them up online will show you almost exactly what Ron just said. Their K-98 in 243 win starts at 1037 euros or about 1400 US in Austria. The few I saw for sale on Guns International and Gun Broker show that price and up. Those were new guns. The used Cougars were in the 600 range. They have the markings you are looking for.

I owned one or two Voere rifles waaaaaaay back when....i don't remember much about them though. I just remember one was a .243 and had a stock with a roll over cheek piece. It just wasn't my style of gun...and soon got sent down the road

I don't remember much about the second at all...

I just wanted to post back to say Thank You for the information. I have passed it on to the person at work.
