Early on in Colorado's "Shall Issue" beginning, a local car dealer had a "No Firearms" sign on the door going into the Showroom from outside. An area rancher had stoped in the lot to look at a new pick up. This wasn't some hobby farm owner, he owned a large working ranch and could write a check on the spot for a new F-350 King Ranch Ford truck if he darned well wanted one. He looked at a new pick up, talked to the salesman, and they were headed inside to iron out the details and fill out the paperwork. The rancher saw the no guns sign on the door and said, "I dont want to go against your rules, but I'm not going in there naked". He told the salesman to have a nice day and left to go buy a new truck elsewhere. That sign was gone before the day ended. :neener:

Now thats voting with your feet "Rancher Style".:D

At one time I bought some cards that you could pass out to stores that had the 'anti gun' sign. It bassically said that I am going to respect your no guns allowed sign and take my business elsewhere.

Tell em you will discuss at the next gun club meeting-and then discuss it there. You will probably find another half-dozen places to buycott.

I had a similar experience as the rancher.I was looking at a new vehicle a couple of years ago and as i was walking in the door i noticed the sign.Drove 6 miles and bought the same car and got a little better deal.

It works both ways. On the 14th of February, I am going to have a coffee and a brownie at Starbucks. I am going to tell the manager it's because their corporate policy is to allow law-abiding citizens of all stripes to shop there. In Utah they couldn't stop me anyway. But it's important to make sure they know that we are more numerous and effective than the opposition is.

There is no force of law behing signs in michigan. Just a trespass violation if you refuse to leave if "discovered". Places do still put signs up like TGIF in utica/shelby twnshp mi for example. I avoid the places with signs for their opposition to our 2nd amendment rights when possible but when not as long as they are not legal pistol free zones I still carry concealed and dont think twice about it. Thats like having a no blue underware sign, unless you drop your pants how the heck are they going to know! ha

Ok, I am a pizza delivery guy in Wisconsin. A friend and I both got are CCW for work. Now my boss is telling me that if we carry in the store we are fired. However, the store is NOT posted no weapons to the customers. (for fear of upsetting long time patrons) What do I do, bc the way the law is worded up here it may or may not be on my side.

Former home: Illinois, with total gun control.

Present home: New Hampshire, with NO gun control.

Do more folks eat there or avoid the place after noticing the sign? Are there more sheep...or more sheepdogs?

This would be some interesting data to see if the "soccer' moms feel much safer or not.

You are an employee -it sounds like you are about to be terminated if you bring your gun into the restaurant. So leave it in your car - you need for deliveries at the customers' homes, not in the shop, right?

Hard to believe in "hunting" country you`d see such a sign/notice.

You did go! Hope the grub was good.

As you see, I`m a little late to the dance.......

Yes, it only does any good if you tell management why you're taking your money to their competitors.

I agree. I've actually seen it work...once, just once. I felt REALLY great knowing I instigated the change, though. :)

That being said, I live in NC. Most any decent restaurant serves alcohol and any establishment that serves alcohol is a no go for carrying. It stinks. Other than a few mom and pop joints, most places that are decent also have at least cold beer on the menu.
