For those of you that live in the great state of WA (trust me, it is better than many other places in this country, been there done that!) then you probably know we can use suppressors now. You can also own some destructive devices and AOW's. But you may have a hard time getting a signiture or just don't want to deal with that.

You may also want the peace of mind that you and your family are protected from violating NFA laws. All the fine print as it were. Also, if anything happens to you, what happens to your collection? Sure, you might be gone so it doesn't matter to you. But what about all the resources you dumped into the collection? Keeping it all or selling it all could benefit your family. Either way, you want to keep it in your family, perhaps with friends.

So I got a trust. I got it for $500, they have a cheaper one but this one covers a little more. The money also goes toward a full estate planning and then they will give you the firearms trust for free.

I've read a lot into this, I've seen the ones that stores have and the ones you can get online. I always thought "what's the difference?" but wanted to cover my tail, so I always planned on using a lawyer. I finally got around to it.

I can positively say that what you get online and at a store trying to sell an NFA item is NOT the same thing as what you get when you go to a lawyer that specializes in this.

Previously, I had trouble finding a firearms trust lawyer. I called around and finally thought I'd have to go with Goldman in FL. But I found a local one, there are a few now, and I think it is worth it. There is a LOT of stuff in there, lots I wouldn't ever think to add, things not in an online trust. Like specifics on who can and can't use the items, legality of transfer and ownership, on and on. They also make it easier to acquire NFA items.

So if you are thinking about a trust or LLC, definitely fork over the cash for a real trust, a real firearms trust at that. NFA items are costly, so is the penalty for running afoul of those arcane laws.

I don't want to advertise for this guy, but I wouldn't mind telling you who I used if you pm me. I can at least vouche for the fact that the guy is a gun nut like you and me, plus he went to law school and specializes in estate planning.
