Well, I've been shooting BP since the late 60's and last year a friend with still more experience than I suggested an over-powder wad to cure patchburning problems with 777 that I'm now pretty much forced to use. I started slowly adding them to my other loading sequences with both Goex(when I can get it) and subs and comparing new targets with old ones. Now I use a lubed felt over-powder wad in every black powder rifle and pistol I own and have found that a wad, oversized by one caliber, always give me better and more consistent accuracy.
