Thought I would post a mini review of my Waffen Werks AK. For those of you who would like some pics. I really, really suck at posting those. I do have two posted (right and left silhouette side photos) at "New AK Purchase" thread. If you want me to post some more, then let me know and I'll give it a try. Guys, I'm close to 60 and just not very adept at that.
However, I will give you my first impressions of the rifle. The finish on the rifle is very, very nice. It is most certainly not painted on. I'm told it is KG Guncoat. Very Black on mine. The Bulgarian furniture is a really dark plum. It actually looks black unless you closely inspect.
Upon breaking it apart, all the numbers match. Though I have read different about some of these, mine appears to be from an unissued parts set. Really looks as if none of these parts have ever seen any use. Barrell is chrome-lined. Reciever is No-Dak Spud.
Bulgarian break and cleaning rod. You'll be happy to know the dust cover pops off quite easily with just a little pressure to the rear.
500 rounds of Siver Bear. Had to clear the action once. Me and my 16 year old son shooting. I am planning to purchase a slide fire in a couple of weeks. My sister has 30 acres in the country with a couple of dry ponds to work as a backstop. They are fairly large and reasonably deep so it should work out fine.
I had once owned an "Arsenal" SAM 7 A-1R. Though this stamped version of a 74' is not quite up to the (now) $1600-$1800 milled "Arsenal", it is really, really nice. It does appear to exhibit some real quality in build. For $650-$700 it would seem to me, hard to go wrong.
