Three days ago I bought a P99 in .40 for $525. I went to the range yesterday and it shot beautifully. No problems at all with 150 rounds of different ammo. Then the slots on the mag floorplate which held it onto the metal body broke. Both sides cracked and the floorplate came right off. So that mag is now unuseable so I just used my other one. The other finished off the remaining 50 rounds and when I was done shooting i looked at the plastic floorplate on the good one. The slots on either side were cracked but it was still on. Now im really pissed because I just spent all of my money on this pistol and I was expecting quality here with Walther. It a great gun but they need to focus on everything. Pleae let me know if this has happened to anyone else here. This is not a pistol I would be defending myself with because the floorplate could break right off any minute.

I can understand your frustration, but this is easily resolved ...

This is a known issue that's already been addressed. Some of the baseplates shipped with some Walther P99's had this problem, apparently because of a problem with the polymer used to make them. Walther America (S&W) will replace them for you if you call them.

I would contact Walther for replacement mags. For what I've read they've got very good customer service.

ok thanks guys. I feel a lot better now that you said that fastbolt. Im glad it will be fixed because I love the gun so much.

You don't need replacement magazines, only the baseplates. Call them, ask to speak to someone in customer service about a warranty problem, explain your problem (which will be familiar to them), and they'll probably just mail you some replacement baseplates.
