So now that S&W is making the Walther PPK/S in .380 auto, I’m curious if there are plans to make one in .22lr also? Does any one know?

What are used PPK/S going for? I’m just looking for a shooter, and something to attach my Gemtech Vortex-II on to when my form 4 comes back from the ATF. The reason why I wont buy that Walther P22 is because of that damn internal safety lock, and the fact that it wont fire with out the mag.

Thanks, Dan

I've heard nothing about S&W making a .22lr model. In fact, there has never been a Walther .22lr PP series gun made the USA.
I'm not sure what the reason is, other than possible low sales making it uneconomical.

I personally wouldn't look for S&W to offer one.

The last cheaper PPK/s 22.'s I'm aware of being offered were the Manhurin guns of the 1980's.

Unfortunately, most .22 PPK/s guns are high priced due to the low quantities imported by Walther and Manhurin.

Check out the Bersa Firestorm in 22lr. It is simillar in appearance and is a whole lot cheaper. It also has the benefit of an external slide release.

You can find the PPK/S in .22LR, but the bugaboo is going to be the mags. There is only one place I know of to find them and you don't even want to know the price!! ;)

Wow! That’s a lot for a mag. And I’m one of those guys who likes to have a minimum of 10 mags per handgun (15-20 per rifle).

That Bersa looks very nice, just what I’m looking for. I never even thought of them. Do you know if there are any threaded barrels available for them.

Thank, Dan

I'm not aware of any extra barrels available. You might contact the us importer and see if they are available. It shouldn't be too hard for a gunsmith to turn you a new one if not.
BTW, the Bersa also has a magazine lock.
