Has anybody experienced this problem? I probably should have searched before asking...but damn, it just came off.

A couple weeks ago I was shooting with the 7 round magazine and had several occurrences of the slide locking back (as if empty) with rounds in the magazine. I stopped shooting and chalked it up to a bad magazine. This evening I experienced the same thing with the six round magazine. The ejector looked odd. Comparison with a store model confirmed that several millimeters of the ejector had been sheared off. Here is a picture. It may not be useful. My lousy camera will not get closer.

I will send it in for service, but it looks like the ejector is part of the frame. Any experience with this?

Wow, that is weird. Maybe the extractor wasn't letting go like it was seized, or the pin slipped.

Hmm...that sucks.

The type of malfunction/breakage that you experienced is a "new one" on me.

I have heard that the PPS has had issues with the slide locking back and remaining there until the factory could intervene (perhaps related?) here:

Seems like Walther is having some "QC" issues across the board. Looks like it is time to ship it off for some well needed Warranty attention, huh?

Contact the folks in the S&W customer service department, which handles repairs for Walther in the USA, and tell them what happened. They will pay to have the gun returned to them, repair it, and then send it back to you without question or complaint or intrigue. S&W/Walther's customer service is one of the best in the industry, as a general rule.

Guns rammed out into the market without proper testing. JMB would be sickened by it.

NCBeagle:

FWIW Dept.

I had an early 9mm PPS and it developed ejector problems around the 200 rd mark..

I sent it back to S&W, they sent it back, unfixed.. I sent it back to S&W and asked them to FIX it, KEEP it, or send me a new PPS.

They sent me a new PPS.

I sold it.

I have absolutely no problems with S&W as both trips back to S&W were free, and UPS even picked up the pistol at my house (both times) and brought it back to my house free both times..

Smith & Wesson has one of the, if not THE best Customer Service/Warranty Dept. of any firearms manufacturer I've ever had the pleasure, or horror, to deal with.. (Beretta was the worse by the way:barf:).

Call S&W for an RA, and they'll take care of you. If the PPS comes back not repaired, negotiate for a new one.

Just a suggestion,

Best Wishes,

Jesse
