Ok guys I am wanting to build an ar 15 in 6.8 spc 2 and I have a question here it is don't they just use a standard lower for 223 or do you have to have a different lower

Technically speaking, the lower dosen't _have_ to be marked 'multi'.

I agree it's a good idea to use a lower marked 6.8 or multi to prevent confusion, but it isn't like you'd be breaking a law or something.

Same lower.

5.56, 6.8, .300 Blackout & .300 Whisper all use "standard"/multi-cal 5.56 lowers. You just need a different upper and magazines.

I dont want to rain on your parade but check price and availability on 6.8 ammo. I built a 6.8 gun and got sick of paying $1 per round pre panic and sold it to build a 7.62X39 also off the standard AR-15 lower. 7.62X39 is about .30 a round, available everywhere (world wide) and superior balistics vs 6.8.

Yeah check 6.8 cost. If it will be your only ar, it will be expensive to plink with. You could always have another upper, like a 22, 223, etc to save money plinking and use the 6.8 for hunting or whatever.

AR 15 lowers take many calibers. Many are mentioned above and the 6.5 grendel.
