"Yet no examples, links, footnotes, sources, or any other form of proof other than one disproved study are given to back up this statement. This man should demand a refund for the price of his college english courses. I know as a medical student he probably didn't have to take that many, but have some common sense man at least throw out a few sources! Of course I really shouldn't be surprised but it's like walking into a closed door, you knew it was there but your brain is still mystified as to why your nose suddenly hurts."

Quoted from RasberrySurprise.

Seems the author published the reports and submitted them for peer review himself. From the Wiki cites at the bottom. Easy to make up statistics, write a report and then cite the reports as justification for your arguments. Cherry pick your facts and then run with them:fire:

Japan leads the world in suicides, yet they have no guns.People bent on suicide will find a way, guns just make it quicker and surer.

Maybe the pro-rights community needs to figure out how to infiltrate the print media better.

True that but any where comments are allowed the community is loud and clear and reasoned. The MSM will just keep playing their same closed loop regardless of new facts and realities.

well, they also skew it on the simpel fact that someone cannot be killed by a firearm if a firearm isn't present. in the other homes folks are killed with something else.

as britian has proven, even on the rare occasion you do remove the item in question, folks are just going to find another way to do the same thing.

i never got why being killed with a gun is so much worse then being killed with something else. either way your dead.

Re: Robert Hairless,

Awesome post. In every shape and form.

Re: Mongo the Mutterer,

Care to explain? Wikipedia seems to confirm the fact that he's an expert.

Re: rocinante,

The article has 600+ comments. Still, the liberal print media needs a taste of their own "fairness doctrine".

Kellermann is a well known piece of work with BS studies that have been discredited.

He only counts actual shootings in assessing firearm use in self defense.
Sine Kleck discovered that the vast majority of incidents end with the display of a handgun and NO shots fired, Kellermann's study criteria become BS.

I want to thank Vermont for helping us consider the anti position in a broader context. Insulting someone over a deeply held conviction is not likely to win hearts and minds. The SCOTUS has allowed us to grab them by the )@##@. As someone else said, if you have someone by the @)##()@, their hearts and minds will soon follow.

Not all liberals are anti-gun. Not all conservatives (well, at least not all right-wingers) are pro-rights. No need to call names, piss off the fence-sitters, and alienate potential allies.

wacki, I do care to explain.

When you read the SMSM (Socialist Mainstream Media), you will only get quotes from experts that support the SMSM belief system. Don't ever look for qualified, educated opinion from the other side. Oh, and don't ever think that a Nobel or Pulitzer makes anyone an expert in their field. Those prizes are only given to the true believers. If you have a problem identifying the SMSM, here is a short, not complete list of their members:

It's just the same old scam, comparing apples and grand pianos.

Apparently, you haven't defended yourself with a gun unless you KILL someone. If your assailant sees your gun and runs away, you haven't REALLY defended yourself.

The next time one of these imbeciles tries to run that scam on you, just ask him, "Do you believe in using the martial arts for self defense?" If he says "yes", just ask him, "Then you haven't REALLY defended yourself with the martial arts unless you've beaten or choked someone to DEATH, right?" For laughs, ask him if he prefers Sarin to pepper spray, since the latter doesn't usually KILL.

Currently the "criticism" section for Kellermann's wikipedia entry is completely empty. As usual wikipedia is of mixed worth. Kellermann's work is some of the most well known and most thoroughly discredited and disproven antigun work out there, it should be very easy to find if you're interested. He may get a lot of press coverage but so does Sylvia Browne, it doesn't make either of them right.
