Has anyone ever had days where you were just ON, or completely OFF?

The last time I went out, all my pistols were dead on, but the revolver was way off. Usually, it's the other way around (I'm a poor pistol shot, and good with a revolver, even big bore). Is there any explanation for this, or is it a freak of nature?

Thanks.

Just a strange day at the range probably. I have better and worse days but my range time is so infrequent that I couldn't blame any single thing. Usually biggest problem is a lack of concentration. I get pretty uptight about finding free time or money for the range, and then I'm looking over my back every 10 seconds to see who else may have shown up and wants to use the range.

My best shooting was done while taking a trip to the range with a more experienced shooter. We hadn't met before but were both members at the same club, so we shared a car and swapped guns. I shot my best group ever rapid fire with his Sig 226, putting 15 rounds in the 10 ring at 12 paces as fast as I could pull the trigger. Normally I can't do that while shooting slowly and resting my arms on the range bag. My range partner that day was quite impressed and I've never been able to do it again.

Overall I shoot a whole lot better if I just lift the gun, align the sights, and pull the trigger. The harder I work on breathing, sight picture, and stance the worse I shoot. Those are more valuable to precision rifle shooting I think, because my pistol shooting is best when it's smooth and natural.

Yes

Shooting a 5" steel circle at about 25', it was either entire mag on steel, 15 solid pings, or partial mag off steel most on. Very annoying... After two or three not hitting I had to stop and get myself straightened up. Only missed by a tad but just enough to not hit, felt like a real tool :scrutiny: for missing something that simple.

Yes I sometimes have strange days, like yesterday.

The last few weeks I've been plinking at 100 yards with carry type guns. Three inch Kimbers, 2 inch S&W J Frame, Beretta Minx 22 Short and Makarov.

Yesterday I wanted to see what my CZ83 9x18 would do. I hadn't shot it in a while so I fired six rounds at a 2 inch bull at 17 yards. The group was poor so I switched ammo but the group was still poor.
I about decided to not shoot the gun at 100 yards figuring the gun or me wasn't up to keeping most of the hits in the silhouette target.
(15 yard TX concealed carry qualification target)

I tried a couple rounds at 100 yards and they were good, so I continued.

It was one of those days where I wasn't doing good at 17 yards but satisfactory at a much longer distance.:D
