I have wanted a 1911 a1 ever since 1971 when I first fired one in USMC boot camp.
Actually, it was the first side arm I ever fired.
So I have been researching them for several years. I wanted a good one, but didn't want to break the bank.
I sort of settled on a rock island as they got pretty good marks for the price. And I liked the idea of a fire arm that I could change cal. on, so I really wanted one of the 22tcm/9mm jobs if I could get one that was a fair price.
I found one being sold on proxibid, but thought it would sell for more than I could afford. Still, I bid on it.
Then I found another RI on gunbroker in .45 that was selling at a fair price, so I bid on that one as well, figuring I would end up with one or the other.

So...

Now I have a .45 AND a 22tcm/9mm on the way.
Not all that sad about it however. :)
I kinda wanted a .45 since it was closer to "my first" hand gun anyway. And the 22tcm/9mm should be fun to play around with!

Anyone here own a RI 22tcm/9mm?

Congratulations. Now you are a great American, with a great American pistol (well, yeah, the Rocks are made in the P.I., but they're our longtime friends, and it is an American pistol), to shoot in America.

But, you do remember the THR caveat, right? Pics, or it didn't happen!

Awesome. I've been contemplating one of the 9mm/.22 TCM if I can find the right one. Id love if they made it in Commander length and/or double stack. (Thought they used to offer double stack)

One addition you might consider, just for posterity. A Para cut 5" .38 Super barrel for your 9mm. The mags they sent with the TCM version will work with it.

Good to know!
Thanks

Congrats! I’ve loved my RIA in .45, accurate and feels good in the hand.

I’ve thought about the 9/22 combo, let us know how it shoots and feels. 1911 in 9mm has always intrigued me, although I’ve had my eye on a Springfield armory in 9mm for awhile. Love the rock though.

Yea, my other pistol (other than my cap and ball revolvers) is a sub compact xd9. Nice little pistol!

9mm in a full size 1911 is soft shooting, makes a great range gun.
Really like my Springfield Loaded 9mm 1911s.

I also have a Citadel (RIA) 1911 in.45, great gun for the money.

Some people don't like 1911s but when I hold one it just feels right to me.

Oh man, the Springfield in 9mm you mentioned would be a dream. I’ve had my eye on that one for years, just can’t justify another 9mm at this point. One day.

9mm in a heavy bodied 1911 frame is a great gun for the range.

50-60K rounds thru the first one, change springs and it's still tight, may be time for a new barrel soon.
Liked the first so much I bought a 2nd one for a spare. (just in case it comes off CAs stupid approved list)

Not cheap but worth the money IMO.
(I know I have posted the pic a couple times but I Really like it.)

I would pick up a RIA in 9mm/22tcm just for fun but not on CA list.

My 22tcm showed up at my ffl today. I couldn't tell for sure from the photos on the auction site if it was a double stack or not though I thought it probably was.
It IS a double stack! Just the gun I was looking for and hoping to find.
Now I just have to wait for my background check to clear. By the time that happens, my .45 should be there as well. :)

Can't beat that! I thought they were available but couldn't remember ever seeing one. I may see if I can track one down now. I've heard the TCM is a lot of fun.

One of my most accurate and fun guns. If the opportunity comes along, don’t pass it up. Springfield Range Officer 5” 9mm. I also have the 4” Champion in 9.View attachment 966334

Yea, I wish the .45 I have coming was a range officer.
I really wanted one of my 1911's to be a shorter model but, oh well.
Maybe down the road I can find someone that wants to swap. :)

Nice group!!

I'm a revolver guy but every man should own at least one 1911.

I have a Springfield Government model in 45 ACP and a RIA in 9mm. I really enjoy shooting the 1911 for sure.

Congrats.
The. 22tcm looks like a lot of fun.
Wish they would sell conversions compatible with Wilson/Nowlin style pistols, my 9mm Kimber is jealous.
