Not a fan of the belted magnums, but I have always had a hankering for the big caliber .45-70 Gov. Was spooked by the bad press on this forum about Marlingtons, but waded thru it and pick up this brand new Marlin 1895 GBL tonight, and all I can say is YIPPPE KAY YA!! The fit is top notch, it chambers and cycles rounds nicely if not stiff due to the newness, nice blue-ing and stock. I LIKEY! It comes with a 5 year warranty, so I don't see how it can be a bad move cuz i will shoot it plenty by then! :p

I touched a few light 250 gr Hornady loads off in the back yard and I am grinning from ear to ear! :D:D

Can't wait to shoot more this weekend with the big stuff. I can tell this will be bad medicine if I ever run into a bad varmit situation while backcountry horse riding, which is one of the main reasons for this, (saddle gun with punch!) I intend on taking a management whitetail with it this fall, should be interesting! To be continued

Very nice lever gun you've got there, sir.

I've been in the market for a pre-remlin Marlin 336w 30-30... So far no luck, people are holding on tight to them around here ever since Remington bought out Marlin.

Anyways, Nice rifle. Wait until you up the ante on the loads, you might not be grinning for long! :D

Nice purchase. For your intended purpose I don't think you could of made a better choice.
