Now I just need a couple more things like a complete upper(probably LMT), a badger ordnance charging handle latch, buis , a decent red dot optic and a couple of those outstanding pmags , I was just shown one that was slammed to the ground and stepped on and yes I am impressed but I thought I would never get a black rifle , other than my fal but so far, I see I am going to really like this rifle once complete. here is my lower, LMT complete lower with standard telescoping stock, what to expect from what looks like a fine ar manufacturer. oh yeah where to get the things I just named as well as ammo , and what grain of bullet for a 1:7 twist carbine length upper. thanks for the help in advance. Tell me what you think.

well no response, man, a little shocked

but I know yall well come around?;)

You can get the upper form Bravo Company, Rainer Arms, or directly form LMT. Orders form LMT always seem to take a month or so however.

I would absolutely get a LMT upper. I always like my uppers and lowers to match up. That Badger Ordinance charging handle looks pretty nice. I can’t say I have any experience with it however. I personally use a PRI Gasbuster charging handle since I shoot with a silencer nearly always. Also, when you buy your bolt, get the full auto bolt. They are perfectly legal in semi auto guns and (in theory) make the gun more reliable. If nothing else are closer to the original design of the M16 and don’t cost any more.

For an optic I like the Aimpoint Comp M4. My friend has their smallest red dot (T1 I believe) on his 10.5” barreled SBR. It works very well. I personally use an Eotech 553 on mine and am very pleased with it.

I shoot 55 grain ammo mostly. Nothing wrong 55 grain if your not shooting groups. If I wanted some nice ammo I would go with 75 grain Black Hills.

Lastly I think the Pmags are the absolute best mags on the market. I’m using Okay Industries magazines right now. If your looking for a USGI aluminum magazine I feel they are the best manufacturer out there. I would split it up 50/50 between Okay Industries aluminum mags, and Magpul Pmags.

Okay, I am on the exact same path as you. Got my LMT lower last week, and I've got the upper on layaway.

Aimpoint makes about the best of the reddots. They don't have a fancy selection of dots (it's red, and you can get either a 2MOA or a 4MOA), and you can get magnifiers to get some magnification. Plus, the battery life is INSANE. 40,000 to 80,000 hours depending on the model you choose.

Eotech/Bushnell Holosights are nice too (the Bushnells don't have the roll cage and are not quite as tough, but cheaper). They are very cool, BUT battery life isn't very good (especially compared to the aimpoints). About the same price as an aimpoint, maybe a bit less. Magnifiers are also available for these.

You might want to look at the Trijicon Tripower. It's a type of reflex sight, IIRC, but doesn't require batteries. It has tritium, battery, and fiberoptic illumination for the chevron reticle, and is quite interesting. 1x magnification.

Don't have $400 bucks to drop on an optic? (well, I don't either, so I understand). Truglo makes an acceptable cheap red dot. Nikon makes one that should be good, and a company called Vortex will be introducing one called a Strikefire this summer. They aren't the combat tough/proven optics like Aimpoint, but they will do for range use. There are also the Russian optics , like the Kobra red dot, that is pretty good. Might want to look into that, too.

I personally think PMAGs are the way to go, so I will mainly be buying those. I will also be picking up some GI 20 rounders (because I think they look pretty cool in the AR), and some 30 rounders with Magpul followers.

I would split it up 50/50 between Okay Industries aluminum mags, and Magpul Pmags.

My dealer says that would be prudent, just in case PMAGs turn out to be a flop in a few years like HK mags. I highly doubt that will happen, though.

LMT uppers are great, but don't order direct from LMT; you will be waiting forever. Order from Bravo, Rainier, or some other stocking dealer.

All my AR lowers are LMT, and two of my uppers. Love their stuff. :) Wish they made a 20" A3/4 govt spec... if they did, my 20" rifle would be all LMT as well.

I'm considering in the future, when it comes time to rebarrel, rebarreling with a 20" HBAR for an A4 style rifle, with maybe an A1 length stock, or one of the fancier collapsible stocks. We will just have to see...

I'm going the LMT route too I think. I have a new Stag lower w/6POS stock and I'm searching for someone who has LMT 16" uppers in stock. The supply seems to be thinning out the last few weeks and lots of folks are out.

I've already got a Denny's Super Duty BCG in hand (had great success with them in the past), and I'm about to order a LaRue BUIS. That should keep me going until I can get the Eotech I want.

Since the aimpoint is just a single dot I would recommend going with the 4 MOA version. It is actually smaller than you think. As was noted above the batterey life is great. If you wanted to you could just leave it on full time.
