What are empty casings worth to you reloaders?

I might have a deal worked out with a local range.

My question is, How much would reloadable casings be worth per pound to you as reloaders.

9mm?

.380?

.45?

And as a side note, Roughly how much would 1000rd lots of each weigh?

seems like you can buy most hand gun brass for around 40 bucks per 1000, on average for the smaller stuff like you are suggesting. Mag is usually more. It is usually sold cleaned, unprimed. You would need a tumbler and something to deprime them.

Not sure on the weight question.

9mm and .380 brass floods my range as if untouchables, along with .22 LR brass. Please at least clean your messes. Crunching on fired cases is annoying. Does this scenario prove .45 ACP shooter are more conscienctious and caring shooters than some others? cliffy

Used to have a chart with # brass per pound and weight per 1000pcs. Can't find it.

9mm is about $35/1000 shipped. 40 is about the same. 45 is about $40-45/1000 shipped. 380 is about the same as 9mm, about $30-35 shipped.

A friend of mine who does not reload collects any brass he can get his hands on at his range (most members reload, so its not a lot) and every once in a while takes a few ammo cans full of brass to the gun show and trades it or sells it. He's gotten a lot of discounts on ammo since he started doing it.

I have thousands of .40 and .45 and never paid for one. I make it a habit to pick up my brass and when I find a large number in I get down on hands and knees and pick it up. I always have plenty on hand and I go through 25,000+ rounds per year.

I use 1 gallon jugs with the top cut out for gathering brass. Easy to carry, easy to get brass in and out of, easy to keep in the Jeep.

In my area... 45 must be worth more then gold... I can never find any... now 9 mm and 40, you can find all you want.

Once fired 45 is more like 60-75/ 1000 shiped... atleast for what I could find.

try 38 super cant touch it used for under $.10 each. I wish I could find used 50-90 sharps cases new cost about $1.50 each or any other discontinued cases I shoot like 25,30 or 32 remington. If you can find them are aproaching the $2.00 mark.

about $2.25 a pound at the recycler. much, much more than you can get by selling it to reloaders. Unless it is some really rare cartridge. Heck, I picked up 30 rounds of 45 LC, about 100 10mm, 30 or so 50 S&W and could not give them away for the price of shipping.

All I keep is what I plan on reloading, 44 mag, 243W, 30-06.

Yep--not much except trading for the occasional bag of reloads down at the local gun store. I can pick up so much brass at the local gun range I could never use it all. I have over 2,000 cases of .45 auto, about 1000 cases of 9mm, about 2500 cases of 38/357 most of which are nickel and I found another 100 nickel .38 spcl. cases the other morning at the range. I could go on but you get the idea. If you want brass, just go to the range. One morning I asked a guy if he wanted his brass and he gave me close to 300/.308 cases!

As far as pricing goes, check the Trading Post on this forum, look at closed ads, and see what stuff sold for.
Scrap value is $2 a pound, go up from there.
Bear in mind that unless you have something rare or expensive most people won't bother with less than flat-rate USPS box quantities to amortize the shipping across more cases.

I'd be near-sighted to leave a Lapua .243 case lying in the grass. Value what you shoot as your next handload. Brass lasts until stepped on and crushed. Careless Feet! Remember that Korean kids often die for brass, so it has extreme value for whatever reason deemed of value. Simply picking it up at a rifle/pistol range won't generally kill you. It makes for a cleaner range at the very least. cliffy

Before ebay shut down I was selling 45 on there for about 50 bucks per 1000. That seems to be the going rate still.

Flat rate boxes are 10 bucks and usually hold about 2000 rounds of 45acp.
