I work for the city, the solid waste is holding there toxic waste program. you can bring in old gas, oil, paint, pesticides, pills and .........ammo. They had a box full of it, myself and one of the managers where pawing through it and most of it was BRASS. People where turning in brass as haz mat stuff. Are they that crazy or is it ignorance? Don't they know they can take it to a recycle and get cash for it? Any way they told me to take what I wanted and they would get rid of the rest. I brought home a walmart sack about half full of brass, most of it was 30.06, bunch of 270 some 223. Shot shells Kay those would go bang....... in my shot gun, however the bulk of it was plain ol brass, I think they read too many news papers where there are semi automatic machine guns.

Don't know what they were thinking, and don't care. Just want to know where I can go to get my free brass. :D

I took a popsicle box full of used brass--some reloaded so many times I lost count--to the metal recycler and got $27.00 for it. Duh. I should have turned it in as haz mat?

Now live ammo has to be turned into the "bomb squad" for explosive ordnance disposal, but mere empty brass? Wow.

I just thought....today was Friday Saturday is going to be there busy day! I hope they save it until Monday before *ahem* disposing of it.

The bomb boys just got a spiffy new ordnance disposal cooker, I help put it together. runs dual burners with there own propane tank. suppose to cook off ammo in 8 Min's. Looks like a nice BBQ I was thinking with a slight modification (a door) would make a darn fine chicken and rib cooker.
