What can you tell me about this AK, and who owns it?

I believe I saved this picture of THR a while ago. Im pretty sure it belongs to a member here. What can you tell me about this rifle? Does the top cover mounted peep sight hold zero? Can you co-witness the iron sights with the Aimpoint? What model Aimpoint is it? How accurate is? What was the approximate cost for everything pictured? Was it an entire custom job?

Yep....she's all mine.

Does the top cover mounted peep sight hold zero?
Yes it holds zero just fine. The cover has a very tight fit to the receiver.


Can you co-witness the iron sights with the Aimpoint?
Unfortunately no. The rail sits just a little too high for this. Not something that really bothers me though, the optic can be removed in about 3 seconds.


What model Aimpoint is it?
That is an Aimpoint CompML2 mounted in an Aimpoint QRW ring. I have since switched to an ARMS 22M68 ring.


How accurate is?
She shoots about 2MOA with Federal XM-193 ammo. A little better off a rest with the iron sights.


What was the approximate cost for everything pictured?
Project cost without the optic and magazines was around $1100 or so. That includes the donor .223 Saiga. Add about $400 for the Aimpoint and mount, and $15 per magazine.


Was it an entire custom job?
Yep. I sent AK-USA a big box of parts and a photoshop drawing I put together and said "Build this please". :)
