What could be wrong with a used 1911?

Keep in mind there is a distinct possibility that there may not be anything wrong with the gun either.

Maybe the person needed the cash or their spouse doesn't like guns or whatever.

It does have a bunch of custom parts on it, so I understand why you're leery.
 
Used and modified guns deserve extra attention...

...you can get a keeper or a problem.

Not all Bubbas with Dremels are evil, but there is always the Bubba with a Dremel who thinks he knows more than John Moses Browning when really he knows less than a brick (i.e. everything he knows is wrong).

Have I told the story of the sporterized Lee Enfield I looked at with dovetail mounted open sights and you could look down the inside of the barrel and see either the base of the sight, or a barrel bulge where the sight had been driven in? Bubba with brick brain and a triangular file, 1960s precursor of Bubba with a Dremel.
