I thought the western provinces were pretty gun friendly and in some cases refusing to pursue their stupid registration/draconian gun laws?

This doesn't sound too gun-friendly to me, for Pete's sake, it was a single shot shotgun!:cuss:

"...it was a single shot shotgun!"

Oh HO! So it was a precision, sniper-style weapon.

"...it was a single shot shotgun!"
I can see the Brady Center propoganda now:

A firearm so large and powerful that it only needs one shot to kill something!!! Clearly a firearm type that needs to be banned........ wait for it........ FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!

This is really the kind of story that needs to make it into the outdoor magazines, etc. Canada today, the USA tomorrow. We need to wake the hunters and clays shooters up to the fact that they are indeed next. Evil Black Rifles today, Evil Brown Rifles tomorrow.

I'll be out hunting ducks again next week. I have no intention of submitting to this unjust law.

Hope his fellow hunters start a "Firearms Replacement Fund" for him, because this could get expensive...

Another couple of government goons with a "just doing their job" mentality instead of doing what is right.

People just don't think for themselves anymore. I guess its too hard.

Blissninny alert.

The single shot shotgun. It's cheap, it's effective, it's the "saturday morning special":barf:

Seriously, I thought the RCMP/Canadian government was supposed to be treading lightly with new gun control powers, especially in the Western provinces and Tribal regions ?

Hopefully the RCMP have bitten off more then they can chew with this case.

Inevitable happening.

"Let me see your papers"
Here you are Officer, Driver's License, Auto Registration, Proof of Insurance...
provincial game bird license, habitue certificate, and federal migratory

"Looks to me like you're missing a few, eh?"
"Where's your firearms possession license and firearms registration certificate?"...
"You in a heap o' trouble boy"

I'm surprised that his vehicle wasn't impounded there on the spot or that any other arms he may have had in his home weren't confiscated.
In Canada perhaps the RCMP don't have the same power that Dept. of Wildlife/Fish and Game here in the US enjoy. A friend of mine who works for the Nevada Div of Wildlife told me that he actually has that power to confiscate your arms, RV, etc should he find you without the "proper papers" when out hunting, even if you're from out of state. He went so far to say that should he catch someone "poaching" from out of state, the NDOW can contact the "poachers" home state DOW to go to the home of said "poacher" and remove any firearms/hunting implements found. This is reciprocal with other states as well.
I've never researched it deeply, but said friend isn't a BS kinda guy as he ended up with one of my Viszla puppies years ago and knew where all of the local (and few) chukkars in Clark County could be found so I take his word for it.

Inevitable.

Registration equals confiscation?

How about "Non-registration equals confiscation"

You might need some of each, ya know?

Coming to a state near you soon, unless you act and remain vigilent.

Adios

"What does Firearm Licensing and registration lead to? Take a look up North."

When I look north all I see is Maryland and D.C. :)

Maybe Canada will take them.

John

Knowing human nature as I do my one big question is: Will the Canadian government be able to proceed slowly and stealthily enough to prevent a major killing of politicians? The Canadians I have met were pretty deliberate and slow to anger, but they weren't as slothful nor as stupid as we Americans tend to portray them.

I would not be at all surprised if one day I wake up to read headlines telling that a half dozen or so guys in powdered wigs had their cummerbunds ventillated at whatever passes for Lefty party rallies in the great white north.
