So, the 365XL with the Romeo Zero, or my Leopold Delta Point Pro are motion activated and I can see the advantage of this technology for a gun that sits in an unused draw, but how does this help when you are active and conceal carry?
One thing to consider is how each manufacturer determines battery life. Most will use the results from having the brightness at low to medium settings to get that 50,000 hour battery life. The quality of battery used has it's effect too.
The shake to wake optics are pretty much always on when you carry it. But the nice thing is that you don't have to remember to shut it of or turn it back on after taking it out of the holster each day.
Presumably, most people sleep 8 hours a day. That is about 3000 hours per year that the optic doesn't need to be on. An optic that shuts itself off automatically will prolong it's own battery life.
