What handgun has surprised you given it's price

I own three Stery Pistols. It blows my mind how cheap these guns are right now!!! I paid on average about $350 a piece. Quality wise I would rate these right up there with HK, or SIG. They are very finely crafted pistols. Check out CDNN for a great price on a great gun.

my sigma 9ve and my r.a.p love them both and the each cost around 250 nib i only wish i had bought 2 of each instead of one never have had any jams on the r.a.p and the sigma does not like winchester defense ammo but it will eat any thing else includeing hydra shocks

My Star BM rules! I finally took it to the range last night, and it ate over a hundred rounds without issue. Its incredibly accuracte out to 25 yards, the sights are nice once I painted the front post orange, and the trigger is phenomonal. All for 158 out the door with two magazines!

Bought my HS 2000 when they were going for $249.95. 3 years later, and a lot of lead down range, fit & function is 100%.
Good money well spent.

Taurus Pt-92, got it for $250
It has only not gone bang once since I have owned it and that was due to a faulty primer (it was sideways) It's the gun I used to intoduce my wife to handguns (nice heavy gun with 9mm = low recoil)
We recently were shooting with 4 people and only had the pt-92 (it's what I carry) and went through 600rds in about 4hours without a single failure (talk about sore thumbs, i was the mag reloader) This gun gobbles up JHP/reloads any type of crap ammo and handles +p just fine

How about a Firestorm almost 1911. Bought used for $125, never a bobble in about 10k rounds. Bought it to get the slide, wanted to experiment with the pivoting extractor. By the way it came to me with a very nice 4 lb trigger. Been using it as a trainer for newbies. The trigger spoils 'em.

I have a S&W 4 screw M10HB, bought used from the Tuscon PD approx 1979 that is way way over 50k rds. Even has a bit of blueing left.
1 hole shooter at 25yds when I'm on.

Sig 2340

I didn't have high hopes...it was a plastic Sig and only 400 bucks. Almost bought an M2 Mauser. Glad I didn't. This thing is every bit as nice as any other Sig I have ever owned and more accurate than the 226 or 229 in .40. Got 2 of them 400 bucks each.

I've had a few deals where I've gotten guns for less than what they were worth but I can't say I was surprised by them. But for a new gun, paying what was then the low end of the current market price, I'd have to say a RAP 401 or 440.

I paid $199 for my 401, new with two factory mags. It's a surprisingly high quality gun. The finish is perfect and there's not a machining mark anywhere on it including inside the slide. Plus it's got some nice features like having a decocker and being DA/SA. The first time I had it on the range I even had someone ask me if it was a SIG! :what: I happened to have my P229 with me so I showed him the real thing but I could also see where he could have made his mistake. :D On top of all that, the RAP is surprisingly accurate for having such a short barrel. And, after finding out that it didn't care much for Wolf ammo (a problem common to several of my pistols), it's been 100% reliable. Actually it's never failed with Wolf after the first three mags so it might have been a quick break-in problem. However I'll stick with brass cased ammo in it from now on. BTW, it'd be a fine carry piece but I probably never will. It's pretty far down on the list behind my Kahr's, SIG's, Beretta's, 1911's, . . .

Second to the RAP's I'll go along with the Bersa .380's. The only problem I have with them is that the machining, while perfectly servicable, is often pretty rough. You can see that's where some of the economy of the Bersas comes from. They're better guns than they look like.

Baby eagle in 9mm. NIB $389 with one 15 rounder.
Full size, all steel, tight and shoots as good or better that any of the more expensive pistols I have or had.

I love dat gun!

First pistol: Taurus .38 revolver 5 shot...I paid about $150 for it and expected since it was a short barrel that it would kick compared to my dad's old Smith and Wesson Police sidearm I learned on years ago... I was pleasently surprised at the amount of gun I got for the price and with how comfortable it was to shoot. Unfortunately I recently had to let it go as the wife said I couldn't get the Kel Tec P3AT until I sold one of my other pistols and I desperately needed a pocket gun for my CCW.

Second surprise was my 9x18 Makarov...I bought it from a friend because he was in a bad spot and needed the cash. When he had cash again he decided he didn't want it back as it reminded him of his ex-wife too much (it was her favorite plinking gun). I was again pleasently surprised by the ease of shooting and the smooth action (he had done the Makarov equivelent of a "Fluff & Buff" and a minor action job when he bought it originally). I liked the Makarov so much that I use it as my primary now.

Jericho 941 FB has been the one that has surprised me the most - reliable, accurate, fits my hand perfectly and solid as a rock. Under $350.

Just bought a brand new SIGPro 2340. Only paid $450 retail for it at a shop, which seemed incredibly cheap to me for a SIG product of any kind but it certainly shares the same quality as any other SIG I've owned. It's been totally reliable and just as accurate as the 229 I used to have. Very good gun for the money.

Frugal Guns:

CZ40B $275.00
Runs flawlessly, Accurate, and fits my hand very well.
Allow frame.
DA/SA w/ Cond. 1 option (although I carry Cond. 2)
Very nice SA trigger (found DA reach is better when @ half-cock; acceptable option on CZ's)
Added Big Dot sights for $120.00
Can't think of a better setup for a mid-sized defensive gun.

CZ52 $109.00
Grey finish in excellent condition.
Just plain FUN.

Bulgarian Makarov $115.00
Unissued PW Arms imported w/ matching SN'd mags.
Flawless reliability and easier to carry @ times compared to 40B during TX summer.

Well, that's 3 guns for less than the price of some single guns. :D
