Jack booted thugs, pigs, knuckle draggers, thugs, cowards, liars and worse these are names I am reading on this forum a lot lately. Stories of abuses and officer incompetence, court room abuses, judicial legislation, political activism, civil rights violations and down right assault and accusasions of murder, mayhem and other horror stories abound. Then a lot of readers and posters come out and climb on the pile and start adding wood to the bon fire. Reciting their own bad encounters with the law. How they were also abused and mistreated. Others come to the laws defense and give varying reasons for the actions of others, some good, some not so good. Some others will just sit back and laugh.

My question is...

What have YOU done about it?

Have you written a letter to the editor, how about the chief of police, sheriff, mayor, govenor, senater, congressman, president, ...anybody? Some have, and written well thought out letters that cause one to stop and think. Good. Thats what we need. Remember...Of the people, by the people, for the people? WE are the government. Go to the city council meetings and voice your concerns, or express your happiness. What ever your point is GET INVOLVED. Sitting back and doing nothing but complain and whine and call names does NOTHING to solve the problems.

My capt is getting tired of me asking for every bit of training that comes down the road, my students know that I hold them responsible for the class material, my Mayor knows my first name and where I stand on many issues, national and local. The local police chief also knows who I am. I go to the city council meetings and see maybe 4-6 people there, and most often thay are on personal business. Go, speak your mind, let the elected know what you want of them, let them know you will support or not support their actions.

We have probably more than 30,000 members between THR and TFL, what would happen if we all wrote a handwritten letter to congress, what about our friends who are not online? How many could we bring to the polls, how many would actually show up.

Next time you decide to attack someone or something, ask yourself, What
could I do to make this better?

Then do it.

Good post.

Bob Davis is a conservative radio host on in the morning as I drive to work. He constantly gets on the listeners for not doing enough. People call in and sai "but I vote". He says its not enough. The liberals are out there working 24/7 to push their nonsense. It's about time we not only pushed back, but actually did something.

My wife constantly complains about the liberals and is worried how W won't get re-elected. I asked her what she's doing about it. So when the Republicans called me to work the GOP booth at the fair, I got her signed up too.

We need to quit watching movies, and b!tching to eachother. We need to get out there and DO something.

You can put the message out there, and that's fine. But, don't expect a lib to hear you and instantly change political stripes. Political leanings are inculcated into an individual and are difficult to exorcise.

As an example, would you instantaneously "see the light" and vote for Kerry after talking to a lib? Neither would I.

Also, to really have affected the outcome of this election, we all should have been doing something two years ago.

Well, the "law enforcement" (I still hate that term) out here is generally pretty decent. Not perfect, of course.

But they still seem to realize that they need the support of the people and treat everybody accordingly.

Of course, practically every home and a great many vehicles are armed so I have to wonder if that has something to do with it ... ;)

No, but we're the fringe. There's a lot of people that sit on the fence who, depending on a variety of factors, vote across party lines.

I can't tell you how many people told me they'd have voted for Dole if they'd know he'd be so funny/charming/personable on Leno.
