Jack booted thugs, pigs, knuckle draggers, thugs, cowards, liars and worse these are names I am reading on this forum a lot lately. Stories of abuses and officer incompetence, court room abuses, judicial legislation, political activism, civil rights violations and down right assault and accusasions of murder, mayhem and other horror stories abound. Then a lot of readers and posters come out and climb on the pile and start adding wood to the bon fire. Reciting their own bad encounters with the law. How they were also abused and mistreated. Others come to the laws defense and give varying reasons for the actions of others, some good, some not so good. Some others will just sit back and laugh.
My question is...
What have YOU done about it?
Have you written a letter to the editor, how about the chief of police, sheriff, mayor, govenor, senater, congressman, president, ...anybody? Some have, and written well thought out letters that cause one to stop and think. Good. Thats what we need. Remember...Of the people, by the people, for the people? WE are the government. Go to the city council meetings and voice your concerns, or express your happiness. What ever your point is GET INVOLVED. Sitting back and doing nothing but complain and whine and call names does NOTHING to solve the problems.
My capt is getting tired of me asking for every bit of training that comes down the road, my students know that I hold them responsible for the class material, my Mayor knows my first name and where I stand on many issues, national and local. The local police chief also knows who I am. I go to the city council meetings and see maybe 4-6 people there, and most often thay are on personal business. Go, speak your mind, let the elected know what you want of them, let them know you will support or not support their actions.
We have probably more than 30,000 members between THR and TFL, what would happen if we all wrote a handwritten letter to congress, what about our friends who are not online? How many could we bring to the polls, how many would actually show up.
Next time you decide to attack someone or something, ask yourself, What
could I do to make this better?
Then do it.
