I have a S&W 340pd and the trigger pull is HEAVY!!!!! Would a "trigger job" make it a lighter pull? And how much would I expect to pay a gunsmith to do one?

Thanks,
JAck

I think that the cost of a trigger job depends on what is causing your trigger to be so heavy and the make of the firearm. For example, I made the mistake once of buying a S&W Sigma. I don't think $1000 would have bought me a good trigger on that POS. I'm content now in just buying guns with good triggers off the shelf, takes the unknown out of the equation, if you know what I mean.

My last purchase was a Kimber, nice trigger out of the box.

Yep. It's the smoothing and truing of related trigger and sear parts to reduce felt recoil and make the pull smooth. Costs about $50-$60. It's all done by hand so don't think this is pricey.

How does a t rigger job affect "felt recoil"??? That's a new one on me!

It can't. It can affect the "felt trigger pull weight" since smooth triggers always feel lighter than they are and gritty ones always feel heavier than they are.
