I'm looking for opinions. I would like to be involved in pistol matches online. However, the last time I looked for pistol matches online I didn't find any. I'd like to know what people have experienced, and whether you think a website devoted to pistol matches would be popular.

I'm thinking of running a website that runs NRA style pistol matches. These would be 300 point, single gun matches with Slow, Timed, and Rapid fire portions. There would be three distances (National, Short, and Gallery) and three guns (.22, Center Fire, .45) for a total of nine separate matches. Although you'll be shooting for nothing but glory (but really, what more could you want?) winners will be able to print out a certificate of your accomplishment. If lots of people join, I can see breaking people up into classifications (Master, Marksman, Orange Blaster, etc), and awarding certificates at each classification. Matches would run for three weeks. Then the results are posted and the next match starts.

The process would be totally automated, so survival of the site won't depend upon availability of my free time.

I actually did this about two years ago, but I didn't seem to get alot of interest. However, I think my timing was bad, as I did it over the summer, and I hadn't "advertised" the site on TFL, so I don't think the word really got out.

Please let me know what you think.

Isn't something very near to this already being done at the top of the "Competition" page? There are differences such as some rifle and not quite the regimentation of NMC. Quantrill

I'd try it out. Shot the Rifle match for September here in the forum a couple weeks ago.

There isn't very much competition shooting going on where I live, so I'd love to do an online pistol match!

Now, If I can figure out someway to do an online pin shoot... :D
