What is your favorite variant of the Marlin tube/semi .22 rifle?

I'm not quite sure how to categorize the whole family except as "tube/semi", so encompassing all the Glenfield 99, Marlin 60, and the like variants.

I've owned a scattering thus far:

Marlin 60: mid-1980s model, full 18rds with BHO.
Marlin 99-M1: M1-carbine mock-up, half-tube mag.
Marlin 75C: carbine length, maybe 17" barrel, no BHO.

I know that the 60 changed later to a 14rd 3/4 tube due to some East Coast legal complications, and that a few years later the barrel was shortened to the same length as the tube.

I don't care for the BHO (bolt hold-open), and the stock contour on the modern stocks gives me uncomfy cheekweld, but aside from these recent variants, I like the whole family.

What's your favorite variant of the Marlin 60 family?

Does anyone have a link that will list out all the little variants of these nifty rifles?

Mine's called a West Point. It's an older gun, seventeen rounds and no bolt hold open. It originally had the squirrle stock, but in a previous life somebody took a axe or something to it for modification purposes.

I own a 981T. I like the gun. Its a bolt and can shoot a variety of diffrent ammo

I have Marlin 99-M1. It's not very reliable - at least with the cheap high-velocity ammo. FTFs and FTEs quite common.

Marlin model 60 is my favorite....Ive got one of the newer, neutered 14 round versions.

Love my Model 60

I have a "short tube, long barrel" version. It was given to me by a good friend shortly before he passed away, so I'll never part with it. But, besides that, this thing is a true tack-driver. Its far more accurate than an inexpensive .22 has any right to be.

Have an OLD Marlin 99...not the a/b/c, the original 99 with a 17-round tube.

I rescued it from a pawn shop for $20, complete with a Tasco 4x32 scope. Had a lot of jamm-o-matic issues at frist, but removing the action from the stock, and an overnight soak in Mineral Spirits, plus a lot of 'swooshing around in the tank' cleaned that right up.

I think the action weighed about 1/2 of what it did before cleaning....I don't know how one rifle could hold that much crud.

Newest and most favorite of the 60's has the "Walnut-Tone" finish .

"Walnut Tone", so now I know the true name of the stock type that socks me in the jaw when I go to shoulder it. I'm definitely sticking to the older ones for the time being.

I'm very partial to the little 75C carbine I have. If it turns out to be a good shooter, I'll get a sling to put on the swivels, and maybe swap the rear sight out for an aperture sight. I believe Brownells carries an aperture sight that screws on to the grooved .22 receivers.

I have one proper 99-M1, and another where someone took off the rear sight and put on a huge honkin' Tasco scope. Kind of cool though, makes it look kind of like those bulky M3 carbines with the infra-red. Wish they hadn't lost the original 99-M1 rear sight though, those are hard to find.

Marlin 60: 1982 model, full 18rds with no BHO.

That's the one I got. My Dad's got a 1990s 14 round '60 with the BHO and I like mine a lot better. Both are 100% reliable. My lever 39A is much easier to clean but the 60 get out a lot more.
