What kind of scope mount is this?

This mounting base came in the Leupold package with the scope so I presume it is a Leupold mount, however it is not in their catalog at all.

I do not know what type of mount it is. The brochure with the scope says there are two ways to mount this scope, one is with a 30mm ring and the other is a A.R.M.S. lever mount......this appears to be neither.

Even though the nut is tight I was able to loosen it with my fingers, so is this some type of "quick release" mount?

I can tighten it down with a wrench, a driver or a screwdriver thru the holes, however, that may make it so tight that it is no longer able to be "quick release". I have a feeling this is not a quick release mount, but I am not sure.

Do you know what kind of mount this is?

And who makes it?

It looks like it's just a base and not a mount almost. Sorry I couldn't get the photos to rotate.

if you load the pics into your pc's pics file you can rotate them there it's one of the options if you right click

it doesn't look like a mount it looks like it is permenently attached, does it come off? how does it attach?

It's a Picatinny rail permamently fixed to your rifle. Most Picatinny mounts will accept either Weaver style or Picatnny style rings. This type rail (mount) was originally developed for the military. The big advantage is that they can't shoot loose like the standard rifle bases.

loadedround: How is it permanent if I can take it off with my fingers? (I'm sure I could tighten it down with tools though.)

So is it some type of quick release mount?

Why are you convinced it's not Leupold? Just because they don't offer it as an individual item?

I'm not saying I'm not convinced it's a Leupold mount, I was just wondering what type of scope mount it is and if it's a quick-detach mount.

Marine:
Sorry I'm wrong and stand corrected.. I thought I read in the original post that it was permanently attached to the rifle. It is still a Picatinny rail however. Even a marine should recognize the "rail".

Loadedround, you're on the wrong page. The OP is not asking about the picatinny rail machined into his upper receiver. He's asking about the mount which attaches his optic to the rail.

OP, I'm not familiar with the Leupold prismatic optic or mounts for it. If it works, why worry about it?

It appears to be a mount that is integrated with the prismatic sight. The wingnut allows you to detach sight from rail without tools.

There seems to be an intermediate spacer that might be removable to enable use on different types of rifles. You would need a rail or weaver-style mounts to clamp to on the other rifle.

I suspect that you could unscrew the bottom clamp to connect the sight with a lever mount or different type of clamp, but you would want to do a test fit to make sure it works.

I wondered about what looked like a 30mm ring mounted sideways, but I see that is some type of illuminator. I hope you'll let us know how you like the unit after you've had some experience with it.

Thanks, still don't know anything about the mount besides that it appears to be produced by Leupold.

It can be taken off by the knob without tools, but it is not considered a quick detach mount.

I don't know why it isn't anywhere on Leupold's website, and the paperwork with the scope says there is two ways to mount the scope, this being neither of those. And yes, rust collector, the ring is for illumination, it can be taken off or left on.

And yes I know what Picatanny rails are. lol

Got on Leupold's website, went right to it in about 30 seconds.

-The integrated base system includes different height mounting spacers to work on any type of firearms platform.

-The Prismatic is also compatible with the A.R.M.S. #22-34mm Throw Lever Rings Base and Spacer System, and conventional 30mm rings.
