What tablet do you use with your Caldwell Chronograph?

I've been using a old phone with the Ballistic Precision Chronograph from Caldwell. It works after a fashion. I'd really like to use a tablet; easier to see etc. So if you use a tablet with your Caldwell Chronograph, could you tell me what tablet you use? Who made it and what model you have, and perhaps what version of operating software it's running?

Ideally I'd like to pick up a cheap android tablet new or used.

I've tried my newest LG phone, no help there. Fails to connect. Tried an Kindle Fire tablet, same problem fails to connect. Works with an old google nexus 4 phone, but that sucker is small and clunky, and out of date software wise.

Yea, eventually a Labradar will replace the Caldwell, but for now the Caldwell is it until I can save up for the Labradar.

Many thanks!

I usually use my phone but only because that's what I have with me most of the time. I've also got an original Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0" that I've used in the past. Not sure on the software, I'm sure it's as up-to-date as it can be. I see them on feebay starting around $40 BIN, might be able to get one in an auction for much less.

What LG phone, if you don't mind me asking? I've recently purchased a Stylo 4 and haven't tried connecting it to my Caldwell yet. It did work with my old LG Optimus or Samsung Galaxy 5.

I use an iPad, but sure wouldn't buy one just for that purpose. You might be able to find an iPad mini for a reasonable price. The mini is a mighty handy book reader, too.

I got an LG G7 ThinQ about 5 months ago. Good phone, but apparently LG phones are not compatible with the Cadwell software connecting thru the earphone jack.

Also did not connect with my last phone, a Nexus 5x, made by LG.

I saw in other threads that everyone using Android phones was having problems - myself included (LG Stylo 3).
iPhones seem to be okay - so I think the Caldwell was originally designed for the apple iOS and you know those types don't give a rat's ass for Android users.
Battenfield Technologies even sent me a different adapter for my Android phone and it still didn't work.

I normally use my old iPhone 6 with my Caldwell, but I have also used an old iPad (don't remember the model). I've had great luck with my phone. I also have the Labradar app on my phone and use it with my friend's Labradar.

Mine worked with all my previous (Android) phones but not my LG G6. It did connect to my Kindle Fire so I'm going to try it next trip.

When I had my Caldwell it wouldn't connect to my Samsung phone or tablet. Called Battenfield and they mailed out an adapter and new cable and it worked fine with the new cable.

My Android phone (Motorola Droid Turbo 2) wouldn't connect. I called Caldwell, turned out one of the settings on my phone was wrong. The tech guy helped me out and now it works fine.
I would give them a call, maybe it's just a setting.

Sorry to say it looks like you have 3 options.
1. Contact Cadwell and see if there is an update to the software if that is even possible.
2. But an old Apple OS device to use with the chronograph.
3. Buy a new chrono that will work with all devices. This will probably cost you the least and you will have many new features too.

Sorry I can't help on your original question.

I write my chrono readings down on a sheet of paper after each shot. Is that so completely out of date now?
I do that too when at the range - - - but then transfer them all to a spreadsheet for better storage and research.
It would be nice to just skip that step if possible.
