What to ask in a trade

I am thinking of trading my Taurus 24/7 in and getting a XD 9mm. How much do you normaly get, I mean what should I ask for as far as a reasonable ammount in trade.

''Ask for''? To be honest it will be much more down to what you can get - what the dealer will give you!

I seem to recall a loose rule of thumb - sell privately and ask 80% NIB price - dealer will more like give you 60% - he has to make his mark. Private sale would be better tho not as convenient.

Also - re trading the 24/7 for XD - it will I suspect leave you with quite a cash balance to make up.

I figured as much. I know it will be some cash out of my pocket (well a good bit) but I think I want to go with the XD. Thanks for the responce

You might try selling it here in the classifieds or seeing if someone might want to trade an xd for it.

I took it in today and ended up getting 30 less than I paid for it. I figure that is pretty good.
