OTIAC Howa

Best info I get states Howa makes guts for their own, wetherby vanguard, possibly mossberg 4x4and Savage. Coug:new vanguard S2 has MOA and adjustable trigger which according to the mag writers is 2 1/2 -3 # set by factory.BTW Remingtons are not made completely in USA, factually, some barrels are made in either Russia or the CZECH repub. A lot of the time gun writers are full of hot air, promoting for a freebie but if you cross reference them on same subject, the truth might sneak out.JLU

The Weatherby Vanguard, yes, but not the others.

Not true, Remington guns are made, in full (save for perhaps some hardware and such) in Ilion, NY. Remington did import some firearms from Russia (Spartan and the like) and the Czech Republic (Zastava mausers), but these are neither their own design or manufacture.

Interesting info. I'm anxiously awaiting my scopes arrival so I can get it mounted and take it out for a spin. I was sorely disappointed at the availability of high end scopes in retail stores in phoenix. I went to the big box stores (Cabelas and Bass Pro) and neither one of them had high (or even medium) end glass in store. I got a bunch of "we can order that for ya", but what I was looking for was the ability to look through the glass in person before I made my purchase. I ended up going through SWFA and bought a scope I've never looked through. I'm going entirely on reviews and experiences of others who have used them. You can find 1200$ Trigicons (that you only need if you're an operator) all day long, but you can't find a quality hunting optic on the shelf.

Interesting, my local BPS carries both Zeiss Conquest and Swarovski last I checked. That said, they don't carry any other high-end glass that I'm aware of, and not a great many options for moderately priced optics either (I'd like to see them carry Sightron & Vortex at the very least). I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the Minox, but it's always good to have the option to look through a scope, particularly in poorly lit conditions, prior to making the purchase...you might want to check out a few local retailers (some small shops, at least the ones in my area, have a pretty fair selection) next time you're in the market.

:)

Well, rifle and scope are mated with some leupold rings and I'll hopefully get to the range this weekend. Thanks for the opinions and advice.

Some people have good luck with the Howa/Vanguards. I have had 2 and neither one would give the accuracy that suited me.

I think you are on the right track with an A-Bolt. The 2 I have are both great shooters. My only gripe with them is the detachable mag. If you are a reloader, it inhibits COAL. But I can say in mine, I have been able to find loads which shoot to my satisfaction within the length limits.

Good luck with whatever you decide
