Walther

I'm no expert, but it looks like a Model 4. The slide serrations indicate it was made after WWI, probably late 1920s. It was a substitute service pistol for the German army. It was replaced by the model PP. German cops carried the model 4 through WWII.

I'd check gunbroker and auctionarms, I don't specialize in Walthers but GeorgeR's estimate looks about right for the mythical average model 4. This looks exc. so could fetch a bit more in an auction.

Walther Model 4 , Variation 5. The Model 4 was made from 1910 untill 1928. This was Walther's first truely successful pistol. It was purchased by the police and army and it was adopted as one of the sidearms for use by the post-WWI reichswehr. It also had very successful commercial sales. If you will post all markings and where they are located I might be able to give you even more information ( railroad, police issue, ). From the pictures I would say your pistol is worth 375 to 450.

I'll see if i can get some pics on high resolution mode on my camera then I'll zoom in on them in photoshop. Thanks

edit: got a couple pics, heres one of them. it should be fine, i can get a better picture later. those were the three marking i saw, there might be others. does anyone know a link to an online manual of the model 4?

i found a manual for our ppk, after so many years its finally been disassembled and cleaned properly..

im hvaing a hard time disassembling it, how do i? does it have something to do with taking the safety pin out? i got that out and it didn't strip and the pin was hard as hell to get back in properly without scratching everything..
