Guys i am not offering for sale that will come later but i have a bunch of brass to sell. I have a few thousand .40,.45 and .38 brass that is true once fired brass. the .40 has been tumbled. any idea what its worth?

The .40 brass, not so much. You can find once fired .40 for around $50-$60 per thousand. The .45 acp is closer to $100 per thousand. The .38 special is around $70-$90 per thousand but did see it as cheap as $125 for two thousand.

These figures come from brassman brass online.
Hope this gives helps give you an idea of what to ask. You can google "once fired brass" and find other places too to double check.

Personally, I think thats far too much. Cut those prices exactly in half, and thats generally (give or take a few $) the maximum I will pay for brass.

$30/1000 for 40
$50/1000 for 45
~$50/1000 for 38 (assuming we are talking about 38 special, and not 38 super or something)

I've been watching gun broker for a little while now. Seems 9mm and .40 of assorted stamp range pickup go for about $25-$35/1K, although I watched a few lots of 500 that were deprimed, sized, ultrasonic cleaned in solvent, tumbled, and sorted by headstamp. They went for $35-$40 for 500.

I've got two 5 gallon buckets of range pickup, half of which is already sorted. I'm waiting to list it on gunbroker until I get the gear I need to prep it for the better price.

I saw a few lots of 380 that fetched nearly $.10/case. Why is 380 so valuable?

.380 ammo has been REALLY hard to come by during the Obama scare. Ammo gets scarce, brass gets even more so. Supply and demand, although .380 is much more available than it was 6 months ago.

Last time I seriously looked, 45 was $50-60/m once-fired, 40 & 38 about 1/2 that to a bit more. Of course, if someone is willing to pay $100/m, I have some I will be happy to part with! PM ASAP!!

In these parts (Utah) .05 is the highest for .45 ACP
9mm goes for .03 and 40 S&W is right in the middle.
.357 SIG can't be found.

Common (.45, .40, .38) brass is cheap--like the other fellows said. It's the "specialty" brass that folks will pay for. I recently paid good money for 100 .32 S&W Long cases.

I buy .45 for around 5 cents in 1000's, 9mm is easy to find for 2.5 cents, .38 goes for around 5 cents. Of course there are guys who pay a lot more than this but these are about the going rates I see.

Look here in the trading post and see what it is actually selling for. That will give you a good idea of a fair price. Gonbroker prices will be higher.

9mm - 25.00/1000
38 spl - 30.00/1000
357 mag - ~70.00/1000
40 S&W - 30.00/1000
45ACP - 40.00/1000
380 - 75.00-100.00/1000
Those are shipped prices from the trading post here recently.

Well, you could :uhoh: but it would not be a good idea. You can trim it to the length of a 380, but after that there are some differences that might cause problems.

I can't give away .40 brass for much above scrap price plus shipping these days...if I could get $25 a thousand plus shipping I'd be OK. Since nobody wants .40 it seems, I stopped tumbling it and all the .40 I separate gets shovelled straight into the scrap brass bin- it's not worth the time to sort and clean. All I save is the nickle .40s for myself.

I get between $60-$80 per thousand for .45 acp, $25-$30 per thousand for 9mm.

.38 Special is around $40-$50 per thousand.

.380 & 10mm is ten cents a case easy.

357 mag, 32 S&W is 10-15 cents each.

44 mag/spl, 45 colt, 41 mag, 454 casull, etc. 15-25 cents each depending on demand.

Those prices are tumbled, inspected, sorted, and classified according to popularity or headstamps, culling undesireables, and in reasonable quantity not including shipping(maxing out the flat rate boxes).
