LOL

Yeah, for dove it's probably overkill.

Idaho Chukhar, though, looks like it might take a .308. I had never seen one until I saw one sitting on a fence outside Boise. It was the size of a domestic chicken, from what I could tell. Do they taste decent? I hear they flush at 100 yards, but that seems like hyperbole.

We have a saying around here.

"You hunt chuckar the first time for fun, every other time after that it is for revenge."

you are correct, I rarley use the 12 for dove anyway, that is why I have a 20ga.

With the shrinking of good hunting ground, our birds are getting more and more spooky, they will usually flush at 30 yards or more. Last year, I got more birds than my partners becuase I could shoot further out.

Guns like the 870, well-balanced, relatively light, cheap, and reliable, become less so when you get a 3.5" chamber. Case in point: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=215150

Looks like this is more an issue of not cleaning the factory grease out before taking it to the range.

I have two 870's: 1 Express Super Mag, 1 870 Classic Trap (2-3/4" chamber)
The Express is very well balanced and dont have any issue going from one to the other.

I think folks tend to exagerate the issues with the Super Mag. I have never had any failures with it and it handles very well.

That's true. I didn't want to join that.

I just wanted to point out to a shotgun noob that bigger is not better; everything has costs and benefits.

"ARE YOU FREAKING RETARTED :cuss:"

Looks like somebody might be....well, if not RETARTED, then at least spelling challenged.
