What's the deal with Ti Chopsticks?

They're lightweight and they won't corrode. You could make them from rod yourself. As for anodized ? not for me . There is certain etiquette in using chopsticks as there is with forks. If you search 'chopsticks' you will find that info. Stabbing your food or your companion is considered very poor manners !

Combat Wombat-
I have a set of Ti chopsticks. They were 35 bucks. I just like titanium and I'm asian. Nuff said. They are pretty night weight and I can use them to eat of even mess around with my guns. In a pinch you can use them for just about anything.

Okay. I had just seen them discussed here and assumed they were some kind of weapon. But okay, that's cool. I'm always going out to Japanese food, maybe I'll get some.

Hey, 45R- do you realize that was your 1911th post?

CombatWombat-
Its fitting that was my 1911th post. I looked for over a year to find those chops. Here are some mugs of my chops!

Hey 45R, does food slip off of the TI chopsticks like they do ivory (or plastic) ones?

Wasn't thinking about the sticks slipping from your fingers Skunky. I'm thinking about the chow slipping from the sticks and looking like some clumsy bozo. :uhoh: Besides not tasting very good, grip tape is kinda rough on the lips. :p

nice pics. those Toxic chopsticks sure look badass... I thought there were still some left over from the Blade show??

cheers

Any carbon fiber chopsticks? Skunky, sounds like a market opportunity. I want a 1% consultant fee. :D

As to chopstick etiquette, how are you supposed to eat the food if you don't 'lick' the chopstick? Or is it you are not supposed to lick the chopstick like a lollipop. Also, using the blunt end to transfer from common food plate to your own plate, doesn't that mean both sides are touching food?

Naw food never slips off your chopsticks if you Chinese. Skunk and I were born with +25 chopstick skills. I must have stole +20 from him. :) (I got him beat by about 70lbs  )

I love these chops!

Frohickey, great idea ! The chopsticks pictured are the Japanese type which are shorter and more pointed. I was trained with the Chinese type ,of course I eat chinese food and I'm not even chinese !

Gee, and I was thinking about the hair chopsticks in "Unintended Consequences"...

And not licking? It never occured to me to lick chopsticks. I don't lick my fork or spoon either.

Blunt end for common food bowl is a new one on me, but makes perfect sense. Same thing as "double dipping" with chips. They say you should learn something new every day and I just did. :)

What do you do when both ends of the chopsticks have food/sauce on them though? Or are Asians just so natural with them that both sticky ends don't bump anything?

I too find smooth chopsticks maddening, especially the plastic one's at P.F. Chang's... there's no "gription" whatsoever. This round-eyed gaijin devil likes disposable bamboo ones best, I can actually even make headway in non-sticky fried rice with those.

I meant the critter on the plate ]

45R,I knew what you meant but was refering to Combat-wombat's original statement in the first post. tom.

AHHH nothing sexier than an asian woman eating rice with chopsticks ;) ...we dated for about 6 months and she could never teach how to use those things:D

Funny thing though about our first date...I learned what Thank you was in Chinese...from her talking to the waiter...

I also learned what the term "white devil" was as well...when the waiter was talking to her about me...me winking at him and laughing at his expression was priceless !!:D
