Is there a real difference between them? Is there a difference between the quality and accuracy of a Bushmaster set up compared to a JT distributing(fn quality).

what's the difference between a CAR and M4 upper?

Well, technically speaking a CAR-15 had a 10.5" barrel with a 5.5" flash hider on the end. The M4 uses a step cut 14.5" barrel.
In terms of modern civilian AR's, the CAR is probably going to be a 16" heavy barrel, and the M4 is going to be either a 14.5" step cut with some sort of muzzle brake, or a 16" step cut. The only real differences you will see are velocity (the longer the barrel, the higher the muzzle velocity), volume (shorter barrels, and muzzle brakes are louder) and looks.
In terms of quality Bushmaster is as good as it gets. 4150 mil-spec steel, chrome lined. That being said I doubt you'll notice any huge difference with the J&T (and I believe some of their barrels are chrome lined as well).

Considering how sensitive 5.56 is to muzzle V, I'd not go shorter than 16 inches of bona fide barrel.
M855 & 14.5 bbl cuts your reliable range of fragmentation down from 95 to 50 meters
, which is the source of a lot of the failure to stop problems in the sandbox.
And if you've got an 11.4" bbl, it drops to 12 meters.
OTOH, M193 with 16" is good to go for 140-150 meters.

M4's also have the feed ramps cut into the reciever.
Your typical "Mock" M4 doesn't have this, but a few manufacturers do. I've got an Armalite M15A4 T 24" SS barreled upper that has the M4 feed ramp cuts, so they aren't exclusively limited to M4s.
I've found JT uppers to be of excellent quality. They also have the chrome lined barrel option these days. They are on par with any Bushmaster that I've owned or examined. Bushmasters do however have a dry film lining on the inside of the upper.
