Anyone know what the market value of a Remington 11-87 Special Purpose 12ga shotgun is. I just picked up one of these and am wondering how bad I did as I usually don't come out ahead in getting good deals.
I checked the Remington web site and it lists new 11-87's starting at MSRPs in the $800 range.
Here are the speciffics:
12GA, 4 screw in choke tubes with tube wrench: IMP CYL, MOD, Full, and an extended Turkey Super full choke. All tubes are Remington OEM.
aprox 20" factory vent rib barrel. I was told the previous owner got this gun for turkey hunting - the turkey choke would support this.
Synthetic black stock. Matte blue/black factory finish on all metal parts.
Gun is used in 90-95% condition.
I've wanted to pick up a good semi auto short barreled 12ga for a while now and when I ran accross this gun at a gun show yesterday I just had to get it. While I've owned quite a few 1100's over the years this is the first 11-87 I've owned. I was very impressed with it overall when I took it appart to clean.
However one thing that jumped out at me right away was the bad job they did fitting the recoil pad to the butt stock. This is one of the older hard rubber pads not one of the newer R3 pads. I'm planning on replacing this older pad with an R3 as soon as I can.
Happy Holidays,
Rob
