I have come across a Browning semi auto rifle in 22lr -- bottom eject, tube fed, seems to be well made w/ littl3 use. Asking price is $350
Seems like a nice little piece, but I've never seen or shot one and for the price I could get something nice & new. SO, what's the deal w/ these guns -- I'm tempted but I just don't know what I'm looking at -- any enlightenment will help -- TIA :D

You're talking about the tube fed model from the strock? These are great little rifles and in decent shape I would jump on it be it FN or Jap made.

A buddy of mine has one. Not my style, but a very nice gun. I seem to recall they are take-down as well. Go for it!

They are known for the higher quality wood and classic lines. They are expensive compared to other .22's, sure.

They are more of an "heirloom" piece than a trunk gun.

My dad bought me one when I was born, gave it to me when I was 13 or so. I bought my son one as well.

They are accurate, reliable, all that but mainly they are just really nice to look at compared to the plastic plinkers out there.

They take down easily. They are a nightmare to clean :) Well, getting the bolt in and out is a pain anyway. Maybe not nightmare.....

You load the tube magazine from a notch cut in the side of the stock, that's the most unusual feature. The tube is inside the stock so it doesn't hang under the barrel, giving the rifle it's clean look.

They are around $550-600 NIB last time I saw one.

Well what can be said about a timeless JMB design (may his name be blessed forever) that was finely crafted by skilled artisans of top quality steel and walnut and nothing else?

I think I have found my next 22  Does anyone have the instuctions for the secret hand shake to clean this thing? What's the trick to it?

Once you do it a couple of times it becomes sort of clear.

Pull the bolt back a little then down and out.

Getting it back together takes a little patience. :)

After a couple of times it's not so bad but it's an odd thing the first time you do it LOL

Wear a long sleeve shirt when you shoot it too. That bottom eject can put hot brass in some interesting places !

Mom's FN made 22 is dead accurate on pop cans all day long, even when she forgets to flip up the rear sight.

Really neat little rifles, definitely a great price you found there.
