Where are all the M&P 17 round magazines?

As the title suggests, I'm looking for some spare 17 round mags for a S&W M&P9 and everyone is out of stock. Does any one know why they are so scarce?

The promotion a few months ago for two free mags drew better responce than S&W expected. They are making them as fast as they can to fill the rebate back log. Once they get those caught up the dealers should be able to get them again.

OK, that makes sense. This question came up on another forum I am a member of. I looked at my usual sources and came up dry.

When I first got my 9mm compact (Dec. '06) I had a hard time finding the finger rest mags, finally picking one up at a gun show. The same with a 6946 I had.

It has been a nearly continuous promotion. They've got a new one for the holiday season. Don't expect a relief till next year.
