im looking to stock up on some .45 acp 230gr ball ammo. either 500 rounds for myself or maybe a 4,000 round group buy. do any of you know of some good deals on bulk .45 either from the internet or from catalogs? the good old days of $30 for a brick of Winchester White Box from wally world seems to be long gone.

I have no .45 ammo!:banghead:

I don't know. As a handloader I'm pushing $0.09 a round. That seems pretty darn extreme to me. I hate the idea of paying $5 a box, but we are real close.

What are the "good old days" of paying $30 for 100 rounds?

I'm real irritated I might pay $10 per 100 sometime this year.

OTOH, your dollar only goes as far as Obama can stretch it....

If you worked for AIG you could buy all the ammo you want for cheap...

There was no luck involved.

I worked hard to be able to put myself in the position to be able to control my ammo prices. I spent darn near 50 years doing so.

Get up off your ass and do something about it aside from whine and complain.

For $300 you can have a real nice reloading setup. For another $100 you can have all the components you need.

Luck, has nothing to do with it.

Lazy and cheap covers it all!

If you can find them....

The cost of reloading is heading up too. Probably in the same proportion as buying ready made ammo. (Unless you cast your own and don't count the cost of energy used in melting the lead at least twice for each bullet.)

I reload everything I shoot and can definately say it's not as cheap as it used to be.

That was the good old days? I seem to remember them being $10-$11, next to the $8.88 WWB 100rd 9mm boxes, not long ago.

Those were the good old days. If you can call 2005 the "old days".

But the patients have taken over the asylum.

i dont like being called lazy and cheap... and, loop, i am doing something about my ammo situation. there is no need for your negativity. i was asking for info on good ammo deals. i was not asking how much money i could save if i was reloading. if i had my own shop or didnt have to move often i WOULD reload.

To this, i have no response...

That's a pretty nice deal. Local sporting goods store has a whole shelf full of Magtech at the same price. I'm starting to see .45 around here again. They have an absolute ton of different .40S&W and quite a few stacks of 9mm Silvertips that goes across half the ammo isle.

You know I never thought I'd see the day when it was more expensive to order ammo online and harder to obtain than going to the gunshop and buying there. What this all means, I'm not really sure.
